Sur Ngo Practice Booklet

Sur Ngo Practice Booklet

The Sur Ngo are offerings that are dedicated to sentient beings, both to remove any karmic debts we may owe them, and to purify their karma and help them on the path to enlightenment.

Kar Sur (White Sur) is one of the Four Generosity practices given in the evening to the four types of guests: the Enlightened Ones, the Protectors, the eight classes of gods and demons, and all beings of the six realms (all sentient beings). The offering and dedication is intended to satisfy the needs of all classes of beings.

This text also includes the Mar Sur (Red Sur). This practice is similar, but adds a small amount of meat and animal fat to the burnt offering. The Mar Sur is done during serious events that are believed to be caused by something larger than simple karmic debts. The Mar Sur is intended to correct the problem by satisfying the greater needs of whatever is causing the serious event.

These potent practices were condensed by Shardza Tashi Gyaltsen Rinpoche. Translation and editing by Latri Nyima Dakpa Rinpoche and Yungdrung Nyima. Introduction by Latri Nyima Dakpa Rinpoche.

Available to those that have attended Kar Sur and Mar Sur with Latri Nyima Dakpa Rinpoche, or those that have received the tri (teaching) and lung (transmission) for these practices from a qualified Bön teacher.
